Proverbs 1:1-7

Do you ever wish you knew why everything happened or how everything worked?

There's about a million books out there these days to try and help you understand how life works or to give you advice about how to find meaning or happiness. But wisdom isn't found there. Wisdom is knowing who God is and realising that we can't know it all.

Proverbs 1 says that wisdom is the 'fear of the LORD'. It's a bit like if you were to learn how to surf. You can't learn how to surf unless you first acknowledge that you don't know how to.

Realising who God is, that He knows everything, and that we can't know everything because we aren't God, is the first step to gaining wisdom. And the amazing thing about God is that even though we know nothing in comparison to God, He graciously gives us wisdom and helps us to grow in this - knowing who He is, that is. And how do we know who God is? We spend time with him in the bible and through prayer.

So next time you want to know why things are the way they are or how to make a wise decision, why don't you open up the bible? Because wisdom is knowing who God is and realising that we can't know it all.

Youth Leader Q & A with HBC Youth

Who leads your youth group?
BC Youth is run by a team of leaders who love Jesus and love youth! Pete Munday, our youth pastor, leads the team. The leaders are full of energy and love hanging out with our youth not just on a Friday, but during the week too!

Pick 3 words that best describe your youth group:

Our youth is Jesus-centred, friendly and we love having fun.

Do you have any upcoming events?

 - Good Friday and Easter Sunday Church: 2nd April, 4th April
- First night back of youth for Term 2: 23rd April
- Double Up Night: 30th April - bring a friend!
- Global Mission Night: 14th May

Pitch a sentence or two about your youth group that you would like out teen listeners to know:

HBC Youth is a fun and inclusive community, where high school students can hang out and be themselves. We love making friends, having wild fun, and getting to know Jesus in the Bible. We reckon that's the best recipe for not just getting through those tough high school years, but it's really what life is all about. We'd love you to come and be a part of your youth family!

How big is your youth group?

Currently have about an average of 70 youth coming on a Friday night

When do you meet?

Every Friday of the school term, from 7-9pm at Lambton High School: 85 Womboin Rd, Lambton NSW 2299
